From a Childhood Dream to a Purpose-Driven Brand

Xavier Medical Attire began as a childhood dream — one rooted in ambition, nurtured by experience, and shaped by purpose.

From a young age, Dr. Prabuddha Pathirana had the desire to build a business. Over time, that interest naturally focused on apparel. During the COVID-19 pandemic, while still in medical school, a clear vision began to take shape:

To create a world-class medical scrubs brand — proudly made in Sri Lanka, for Sri Lankans… and for the world.

Why not us? Even global brands like Nike are manufactured right here in Sri Lanka. It was time to believe in what we could create — not just for ourselves, but for the healthcare community and the country.

Dr. Pathirana shared the vision with his wife, Mrs. Anushika Deshapriya. At the time, she was working at an international RCM company, and he was immersed in medical studies. They didn’t have the time or the capital — but the dream lived on.

He spoke of this idea to his closest friends, now doctors themselves — sharing the aspiration to someday build a meaningful healthcare apparel brand.

And eventually, they did.

After completing his internship, Dr. Pathirana and Mrs. Deshapriya took the leap. Anushika made the bold decision to resign from her job to dedicate herself fully to the business. Together, they co-founded and now co-own Xavier Apparel (Pvt) Ltd.

On February 4th, 2024, after months of research and preparation, Xavier Medical Attire officially launched — starting on a small scale but built on big purpose.

But Xavier was never meant to be just another scrubs brand.

A Different Approach

Rather than relying on large-scale garment factories, Xavier chose to work with a growing network of small-scale, women-led tailoring units. These talented, determined women — once struggling to make ends meet — are now leading small businesses with pride and dignity.

One woman, for example, was on the verge of selling her sewing machines to pay rent. Today, she leads her own team of seamstresses. She is no longer just surviving — she’s thriving.

Every scrub you purchase from Xavier is more than a product. It’s a ripple of impact.
It supports a business — but more than that, it empowers real people.

The Journey So Far

It hasn’t been easy. Not everyone supported the vision. Even within the medical field, some chose to look the other way — and others tried to discourage with negativity.

But the strongest support often comes from unexpected places — from strangers who simply believe in your purpose.

For every doubt, there was encouragement. For every challenge, there was a lesson. And for every order, there was progress.

Today, Xavier Medical Attire stands as one of the leading healthcare apparel brands in Sri Lanka — built on your trust, quality, and purpose.
